Necessity the mother of invention

My recent fix for the problem of earring storage, a strip of cloth attached to the inside hinges of our wardrobe doors, it's proving very handy. If any of you find your self in the same boat, this solution only takes an hour ( I did it by hand but with a sewing machine it would take 5 min).  Measure the distance between the hinges first. Then you make a fold at the top and bottom of the cloth strip, add a small tie through the loop at the back to tie it on at the top and bottom and your set! It in no way interferes with the opening or closing of the door.

  1. Oh this looks great.....I have so many tangled earrings in my drawer that would benefit from this invention:))

By the way I've hunted down a second hand copy from play of the sword and the scimitar, I'll start it as soon as I'm done reading 'The Piano Teacher' :)) see you

  2. It is a nice way of remembering just what you have earrings wise, funny I have a Danish copy of The Piano teacher that I have been meaning to read, perhaps I should read it after and we can count those as the first two books of a book club!?

  3. This is a very clever idea! I have very little storage space in my house so I'm constantly looking for tips like this. Thanks! :-)

  5. What a great idea! I use a rotating earring display which I bought off ebay... only problem is that the earrings sometimes get dusty, so having them closed in a wardrobe sounds like an excellent idea.

  6. Thanks for the great idea! I too have a small drawer in my jewelry box that is a bit of an earring jumble mess! Now to figure something out for those long necklaces that don't hand properly in the jewelry box as well!

  10. Just catching up. I am really sorry about your grandmother. she sounds like she was awesome, and feisty, like you. I know how it feels to be far away from family and lose a loved one unexpectedly. Give yourself time to connect with her, even now. xo T

  12. This idea is perfect. I have all of mine in small flannel bags, so it takes forever to find what I'm looking for.

    I love your earrings.
